Product Description

H13 hot die steel is a high-performance tool steel known for its exceptional properties in high-temperature applications. Here™s a detailed description of H13 hot die steel blocks:

 Composition

- Carbon (C) 0.32-0.45%

- Chromium (Cr) 4.75-5.50%

- Molybdenum (Mo) 1.10-1.75%

- Vanadium (V) 0.80-1.20%

- Manganese (Mn) 0.20-0.50%

- Silicon (Si) 0.80-1.20%

- Phosphorus (P) and Sulfur (S) Max 0.03% each

 Properties

- High Hardness H13 maintains high hardness even at elevated temperatures, which is crucial for die casting and forging applications.

- Good Toughness It offers a balance of hardness and toughness, making it resistant to cracking under thermal and mechanical stresses.

- Excellent Wear Resistance The steel™s composition provides resistance to abrasion and wear, enhancing its lifespan in demanding environments.

- Heat Resistance H13 performs well at high temperatures, typically up to 600C (1112F), and retains its hardness and strength under thermal cycling.

 Applications

- Die Casting Used for making dies that cast aluminum, zinc, and magnesium alloys.

- Forging Dies Suitable for forging dies due to its ability to withstand high temperatures and mechanical stresses.

- Extrusion Dies Employed in the production of extruded metal products.

- Tooling Used for various high-temperature tooling applications where durability and performance are critical.

 Heat Treatment

- Annealing Typically done at around 850-900C (1562-1652F), followed by slow cooling to relieve stresses and improve machinability.

- Hardening Heat to 1020-1040C (1868-1904F), followed by quenching in oil or air.

- Tempering To achieve desired hardness and toughness, tempering is usually performed at temperatures between 500-600C (932-1112F).

   Forms and Sizes

H13 hot die steel is available in various forms including blocks, bars, and plates. The specific dimensions depend on the supplier and the requirements of the application.

  Advantages

- Versatility Suitable for a wide range of high-temperature applications.

- Durability Long-lasting performance in harsh conditions.

- Stability Good dimensional stability during heat treatment.

H13 hot die steel blocks are crucial components in industries requiring precision and reliability under extreme conditions, making them a popular choice for high-performance tooling and dies.
